The Alfa Romeo team initially brought Bottas into the pits to quickly repair the car and decided to send him back out. However, Bottas reported to the team that the car was "un-driveable" so he returned to the pits once again to retire from the race.
The Stewards reviewed the move and handed Sargeant a five-second time penalty on top of the ten-second penalty he already had ahead of the race.
