A member of the Haas F1 team has been summoned to the stewards after the sprint shootout after an unsafe release with Nico Hulkenberg in the pit lane.

The crazy moment has been shared to social media where the German driver begins to drive off after the pit stop and goes over the tyre which has just been taken off the car. His VF-23 flew up into the air and bounced back down.

Team principal Guenther Steiner confirmed to Sky Sports F1 shortly after that the mechanic was thankfully ok and that, "it looked more dramatic than it was".

The American team has now been summoned the the Stewards at 13:50 local time which is in roughly half an hour, and they face a potential penalty ahead of the Sprint Race this afternoon.

Hulkenberg is currently set to start the Sprint Race from fourth position behind Lando Norris, with his Haas teammate Kevin Magnussen set to start from tenth position.

Hulkenberg faced penalties after the qualifying session in Canada as well when he put his VF-23 in second position for the race on the Sunday but was then handed a three-place grid penalty for speeding under red flag conditions.

It is yet to be confirmed if the team or driver will be given a penalty for the incident today.

The Sprint Race is just a few hours away and Max Verstappen will be starting from pole position followed by Sergio Perez and Lando Norris who will start from second and third, respectively.
