F1 News: Yuki Tsunoda To Join Daniel Ricciardo And Sebastian Vettel For Iconic Red Bull Race

Yuki Tsunoda has been confirmed to join Sebastian Vettel and Daniel Ricciardo at iconic track.

AlphaTauri has confirmed that Yuki Tsunoda will be racing at the Red Bull Formula Nurburgring event on 9 September 2023.

It was previously confirmed that four-time F1 champion Sebastian Vettel will be joining Red Bull third driver Daniel Ricciardo for the highly-anticipated event.

Tsunoda will be taking out a Honda NSX GT3 Evo adorned with AlphaTauri livery on the iconic Nordschleife circuit, making him the youngest to take on the track.

In a press release from the team, the Japanese driver commented on the news:

“I’ve never driven at the Nürburgring before, so I’m really looking forward to the event in September. I can’t wait to drive around it in my HONDA NSX GT3 Evo, which is an incredible car and a proven race-winning machine at the highest level of GT3 competition.

“The Nordschleife is a legendary circuit, I just experienced it on the Gran Turismo videogame and already enjoyed it a lot.”

According to the press release the capacity for the event is roughly 30,000 and it will consist of F1 show runs as well as other"jaw-dropping" highlights. The statement reads:

"The approximately 30,000 motorsport fans can expect impressive Formula 1 show runs and plenty of other jaw-dropping show highlights at Red Bull Formula Nürburgring. In addition, spectators will have the opportunity to experience the 12-hour race of the Nürburgring Endurance Series up close."

Max Verstappen had also said he was interested in taking part in the event, however, Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko blocked him from racing around the track knowing that the two-time champion would push to the limits. As the current leader in the drivers' and constructors' championship, this is something the Austrian team could not risk.
