Guanyu was not the only driver to run off at the first corner in the rain with his teammate Valtteri Bottas, Lewis Hamilton, and Sergio Perez all running off but managing to avoid damage.
Logan Sargeant was the first driver to retire from the race after crashing in the early stages followed by Charles Leclerc who was forced to stop with significant damage to his Ferrari floor.
Once Guanyu's car is removed from the track, the red flag will be lifted from the race which has seven laps left to go.
