Fernando Alonso is firing back at those who claim that Aston Martin's AMR23 looks suspiciously similar to the Red Bull RB18.

After a great start to the year at the Bahrain Grand Prix, Alonso drove his AMR23 to the podium, but the joy was cut short when Red Bull team advisor Helmut Marko, driver Sergio Perez, and team chief Christian Horner, made joked at their expense. Marko took a jab at the team saying:

"How nice to see three Red Bulls on the podium."

But Alonso is not one to let others dictate the narrative. Speaking to Marca.com, the Spaniard brushed off the comments and said:

"I only focus on my team and on improving. You can already see at a glance that there are differences between the two cars."

Sure, there are similarities to be found, but Alonso is quick to point out that this applies to every team on the grid. In fact, he believes that the Ferraris, Alfa Romeos, and Haas cars share similarities too.

Alonso cannot wrap his head around why the accusations are being thrown at them. He continued:

"Mercedes says fifty per cent of our car is theirs and Red Bull says our car is fifty per cent similar to theirs. There are not two cars more different than those two [W14 and RB19]."

The Spanish driver is convinced that these allegations are baseless and unfounded. And with a podium finish under their belt, it's clear that Aston Martin is doing something right. So let's give credit where it's due and let the racing do the talking.

Alonso will be starting on the front row tomorrow just behind Red Bull's Sergio Perez.
