The team behind the renowned Goodwood Festival of Speed breathed a collective sigh of relief on Thursday as it was confirmed that incident mishap involving a rogue tyre resulted in no serious injuries. The incident occurred when a Jaguar Mk1, participating in the traditional hill climb on the festival's opening day, lost its left rear tyre. The tyre flew across the grass that lines the tarmac before bouncing up and into the crowd.

Goodwood's official Twitter account relayed the news:

“An incident has occurred on the hillclimb. Thanks for your patience as we assess the situation and prioritise the wellbeing of the people involved. We’ll provide further updates as soon as we can.”

Post thorough medical examinations of those involved, it was concluded that thankfully there were no serious injuries. The festival's Twitter account went on to update:

“Following the incident on the hillclimb we’re pleased to confirm that there were no serious injuries and those involved were able to go back to enjoying the event.”

Over the weekend and as the iconic event unravels, McLaren will be bringing a diverse collection of cars to celebrate its 60-year milestone as a team in F1. Also, in an homage to his father, Mick Schumacher will sport his father Michael’s 2011 racing suit and helmet, driving the same Mercedes W02 his father drove in that season.

We will be attending the Festival of Speed over the weekend, so look forward to bringing you more in-depth coverage soon.
