Lando Norris has spoken about his new McLaren teammate, Oscar Piastri, whilst sending a sly dig to Daniel Ricciardo in the process.

McLaren parted ways with Ricciardo at the end of the 2022 season after he failed to gel with the car and put in the performance. After not being able to secure another permanent seat on the grid, the Australian driver returned to Red Bull as their third driver.

However, many fans are now joking that Ricciardo got out on top with his $18 million payout and the fact that McLaren is now struggling with the MCL60 cars. The British team has had a rocky start to the 2023 season but have been able to get some points on the board at the Australian Grand Prix.

During an interview with Channel 4, Norris revealed how Piastri is settling into his team for his rookie year. He explained:

“He’s doing a very good job, honestly.

“I feel so weird talking like I’m the older guy, the more experienced one!

“But he’s doing a very good job, handling the pressure extremely well I would say, I think that is something that is very strong that I’ve seen in him.

“He’s calm, he’s controlled and he’s quick, so I feel like he’s got a lot of what you need and he’s pushing me more than what I’ve had the last few years, which is a good thing for us as a team as well.

“So, a good job, in the points today and not an easy weekend,” he continued. “He went up from 16th to eighth, so a good day for him too.”

The next important F1 date is April 28-30 for the Azerbaijan Grand Prix.
