Lewis Hamilton has made an appearance on a new segment with Sky Sports F1 where he answered questions whilst hooked up to a lie detector, one of which will have made a lot of his fans very happy as he discussed his future in the sport.

The seven-time champion has been a hot topic recently with rumours that he might be contemplating retirement, especially with Mercedes struggling throughout 2022 with issues on the W13 cars.

As the team go into the 2023 season, it looks as though they will still be playing catch-up with Red Bull and Ferrari. On top of this, Aston Martin has already shown significant improvements from last year and is sure to be another threat to the Brackley-based team.

Hamilton's current contract with Mercedes is due to end at the end of 2023, which has only fuelled these rumours. However, both the British driver and team CEO Toto Wolff have expressed interest in extending this.

During the lie detector test, Hamilton was asked if he will keep going until he wins his eighth championship win. The Mercedes driver said "yes" which was confirmed to be the truth.

Although nothing has been confirmed with the seven-time champion's Mercedes contract yet, there does not seem to be any issues with this. Hamilton explained in a recent interview that he is not panicked by it and is in no rush as he is on the same page as the team.

The Bahrain Grand Prix will be kicking off the record-breaking 2023 season tomorrow with the qualifying session later today. Only then will fans get a true idea of how competitive each time is during these sessions.
