Lewis Hamilton In Turmoil With Mercedes: "I Don't Really Know What I'm Doing"
Mercedes F1 driver Lewis Hamilton struggled to put up a positive front after the qualifying session for the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, saying that he "struggled with the car".
The Brackley-based squad has been fairly open with their ongoing difficulties with the W14, and things don't seem to be looking up just yet. The seven-time champion will be starting from eighth place on the grid tomorrow with his teammate George Russell starting in fourth.
Speaking during his post-qualifying interview with Sky Sports F1, Hamilton explained:
“I struggled with the car in the high-speed particularly.
“But just don’t feel the car beneath me. I don’t feel connected to this car and I can’t get it, so I don’t really know what I’m doing to do about that.
“It’s miserable. It’s tough.
“I’m giving it absolutely everything - I’m here as late as I can be everyday. I’m preparing the best you can and I just get in the car and I can’t connect with it. I don’t really know what to say about it.”
Moving on to Russell's position for the team, Hamilton said:
“It’s good that George had a good run today and he will hopefully be able to score some good points for the team.
“I’ll try and recover tomorrow. It’s a new day, so I’ll give it everything.”
