AlphaTauri's Nyck de Vries has given an honest assessment of the team's upgrade path, stating that there isn't a "game-changer" upgrade lined up in the immediate future.

The Italian team has struggled with pace this season, with de Vries himself enduring a difficult start to his rookie F1 campaign. While Yuki Tsunoda has managed to score a single point, AlphaTauri's slow start means that they will need to be aggressive in their development path to climb up the order in the highly competitive midfield.

De Vries provided an update on the team's upgrades, stating that while the differences are "subtle", all development is necessary for the pursuit of performance gains. He emphasised the importance of finding and addressing potential areas for improvement, and the team's focus on closing the gap to the top 10 on race day. With the midfield more competitive than ever, every little detail will make a difference in the team's pursuit of success.

Despite the challenges, AlphaTauri remains committed to its development path, with de Vries highlighting the team's collaborative approach and determination to find performance.

De Vries explained to the media in Melbourne:

"I think the differences are quite subtle. But certainly, all development on the car is very necessary because everyone is working hard.

"And I think that all the little things we are constantly bringing - it's not like there is a game-changer, you're not going from P15 to P8 - all the little details are making a difference.

"And constantly you're searching and finding more, and then you find yourself hopefully close to the top 10.

"Obviously we are closely working together. We are a team, working together and addressing and highlighting potential areas we can improve, and I think it's clear where we need to find performance."

This comes after Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko fired a warning to the team as well as de Vries and Tsunoda that they are failing to meet their expectations. Marko explained that the aim for the Italian squad was to be fifth in the constructors' championship, which they are currently in ninth for with just one point.
