Michael Schumacher's team have shared some throwback photos to social media, leaving F1 fans getting emotional over his time in the sport.

Schumacher is widely regarded as one of the greatest F1 drivers of all time. He holds the record number of championship wins alongside Lewis Hamilton, with seven each.

The German driver has not been seen since his horrific skiing accident in December 2013 left him with severe brain injuries. His wife, Corinna, has kept updates to a minimum since then to maintain privacy within the family.

Posting to social media, Schumacher's team shared one of his legendary quotes along with the photos, writing:

"'Without my team, I am nothing‘

"Michael winning the 2000 Imola GP."

Fans were understandably emotional about the throwback images, with many sending their well wishes to the iconic driver saying "keep fighting Michael".

One fan commented writing that the sport is not the same without Schumacher. They wrote:

"F1 without you is nothing..."

Another fan commented:

"Miss watching those years in F1 Michael truly the best most exciting driver! Keep Fighting Michael"

Referring to some of Schumacher's more difficult years in the sport, another fan wrote:

"If anyone can come back from tragedy, Schumacher can."

Someone else branded Schumacher's time with Ferrari as a "once in a lifetime experience" to live through. They responded:

"It was fantastic to live through what will most likely be a once in a lifetime experience - to take a car and a team with 0 chances and becoming the international institution Ferrari rightly is today. Life is unfair, but Michael will forever be No.1. Thank you."
