Sergio Perez will be starting the Miami Grand Prix from pole position whereas his Red Bull teammate will be starting from ninth.

The Mexican driver got himself just six points behind Verstappen in Azerbaijan Grand Prix after winning both the sprint race and grand prix. Now, in a race that many have deemed difficult to overtake in, Perez will be in the best position possible to either overtake the Dutch driver in the championship or close the gap.

Speaking during the post-qualifying press conference, Perez explained:

"I'm very pleased because it's been a very difficult weekend for me to qualify. I think this tarmac is just very different to any anything else. And I was just trying to figure out how to get the maximum out of the car, out of the balance, because even in my final lap, I was just still finding things out that were working better.

"So far had a straightforward weekend. So, it tastes a lot better.

When asked who his biggest threats will be tomorrow, Perez responded with an emphasis on how important his race start will be:

"Well at the moment, these two guys [Fernando Alonso and Carlos Sainz] obviously I'm there mainly focusing on getting the good start."

The Miami Grand Prix will kick off tomorrow at 3.30pm local time. With overtaking set to be more difficult with the shorter DRS zones, we are hoping to see some good battles with Lewis Hamilton starting from 13th, Max Verstappen from 9th, Lance Stroll from 18th, and Charles Leclerc from 7th.
