Retired F1 driver Sebastian Vettel is carrying through with what he said when he left the sport and is now an investor in the sustainable sports drink brand, BACX.

The company secured £1.2 million in seed funding, with four-time F1 World Champion Sebastian Vettel leading the charge. Vettel, who hung up his racing helmet last year, became a loyal BACX user during his 2022 season with Aston Martin, both in fitness training and while behind the wheel.

Enthralled by the product's effectiveness and the brand's commitment to sustainability, Vettel now steps up as BACX's global brand advocate.

The Vision Behind BACX

Jason Baits-Tomlin founded BACX in 2020 with a mission to provide athletes and sports enthusiasts with a healthier and more efficient energy and rehydration alternative to the sugar-filled drinks you may usually be used to.

Introducing Performance Fuel

BACX's flagship product, Performance Fuel, comes in two flavours and just has to be mixed with water to activate. The ingredients are derived entirely from plants, with the objective to rehydrate with nutritional benefits. The vegan-friendly formula contains no artificial preservatives, colours, or flavors. It's also free of caffeine, maltodextrin, and the 14 major allergens. It's also certified by Informed Sport.

A Seasoned Chairman Joins the Team

Fever-Tree's former Chairman, Bill Ronald, has come on board as BACX's Chairman. During his time at Fever-Tree, Ronald spearheaded the company's impressive growth from a $34 million to a $400 million revenue business. He now aims to apply his extensive food and beverage industry experience to BACX's continued success.

The All-Star Ambassadors

BACX has attracted an impressive roster of athlete ambassadors, including Team GB track cyclist and Commonwealth medalist Joe Truman.

Sebastian Vettel, commenting on his investment, shared:

“BACX products were the first I've tried throughout my 15-year F1 career that kept me energized right until the end of a Grand Prix without any stomach problems or side effects.

"This inspired me to get involved, alongside our mutual values of sustainability, health, and performance, to help scale the business to assist as many people as possible on their fitness journey.”

Jason Baits-Tomlin, BACX's founder and CEO, added:

“I created BACX because I no longer wanted to endure poor-performing, synthetic sports nutrition on my endurance adventures and challenges. I was convinced there had to be a way to create a high-performing and healthier alternative.

“I was thrilled when Sebastian decided to use BACX and put it to the test on the track, ultimately leading to our partnership through shared values in making a positive impact on people's lives while doing our best, from the start, to limit environmental harm.

“We're delighted to be a part of Sebastian's vision for change, including his involvement with BACX as lead investor and global brand advocate, to help us grow and make a difference.”
