What F1 Fans Should Expect From The Mercedes W14 Car Reveal
The Mercedes F1 team is set to reveal the long-waited W14 on Wednesday 15 February at 9:15am GMT. Here's what we know so far.
How Will The W14 Be Revealed?
The reveal will be streamed live on the teams YouTube page and will include Lewis Hamilton and George Russell as well as team principal and CEO Toto Wolff and reserve driver Mick Schumacher.
The team have posted to their website:
"You’ll get to have a first look at the W14, but you’ll also hear from our 2023 drivers, George Russell and Lewis Hamilton, plus our Reserve Driver, Mick Schumacher, and Team Principal & CEO, Toto Wolff.
"The car will then take to the track for the first time at Silverstone, as part of our filming day. We’ll be sharing all of the excitement of W14’s track debut on our social media channels.
"And of course, we’ll be taking you behind the scenes throughout the entire day so make sure you’re following us on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, LinkedIn and Weibo."
Sponsor Changes
Mercedes lost their crypto partner FTX at the end of 2022 after the company filed for bankruptcy. So, the team had some spaces to fill in their sponsor portfolio.
The team have announced new sponsorship deals with technology company Nuvei and Solera who are the industry leaders in vehicle lifecycle management.
What To Expect From Mercedes In 2023
Mercedes had a difficult 2022 with many issues on the W13 cars. Wolff has already revealed that the shape of the W14 is the same as the W13, so we are expecting to see the same zero sidepod design the team went for last year. However, Wolff has also said that the W14 car will be completely different underneath, thankfully.
The team came third in the constructors' championship last year and will be looking to come back to be more competitive at the top of the grid in 2023.
