F1 fans have been sharing their excitement as McLaren has dropped hints about the comeback of their legendary chrome livery for the upcoming British Grand Prix.

A sudden shift in their social media, specifically the change of their profile picture to a chrome-themed McLaren logo, seems to suggest this.

The Woking-based squad unveiled a cryptic video featuring Lando Norris, who appeared to be seeing something for the first time. The intriguing post left fans with the tantalising caption: “What has Lando Norris seen? All will be revealed…”

One fan commented:

"If it’s actually the chrome livery imma lose my mind"

Another hopeful commented:

"I have a feeling I know. Would it be a Silverstone livery by any chance? Would love a chrome McLaren for Silverstone."

This shift back to chrome would not only satiate fan nostalgia but would also synergise well with their sponsor, Google, given their renowned web browser goes by the same 'Chrome' name. It's noteworthy that McLaren showcased a chrome/silver livery at the dawn of 2015, which was later replaced by black within the same year.

However, the team said goodbye to the black livery in 2017, choosing instead to adopt 'papaya' as their primary colour, which has remained so until now.

But the chrome livery is etched in many fans' memories as their absolute favourite F1 livery, with Vodafone as the title sponsor back in the day.

The team continued to tease fans by posting another video of one of their Google Chrome wheels, with the caption, "Coming today... @GoogleChrome".
