Greenwich Park Inspired Eberechi Eze's New Balance Boots

The stars over Greenwich Park inspired Eberechi Eze's custom New Balance boot.

Eberechi Eze spent countless days of his childhood playing football in Greenwich Park, home of the Observatory. Eze credits legendary players for inspiring him as a kid, and now the Crystal Palace F.C. midfielder is in a position to influence a new generation of athletes.

Since signing with New Balance in 2021, Eze has elevated the American brand to the stratosphere in the Premier League. Now, the improbable star is getting his own custom boot - the New Balance Furon v7 “Starraiser.”

The boot releases worldwide on April 11 and will be at selected retailers and on the New Balance website. FanNation Kicks was able to speak with the fan-favorite footballer about his new footwear, and as always, Eze's commentary did not disappoint.

What has your experience with New Balance been like since signing with the brand in 2021?

"It's been incredible. Having a brand as big as New Balance looking after me, looking after my family, and being in a position where I can wear and promote their boots, it's a huge thing for me. I'm hugely grateful to be in this position."

How does it feel to get your own custom boot, the limited edition Furon v7 “Starraiser”?

"Yeah, that's wild. When they first told me, I was super gassed because, of course, growing up and watching players I looked up to getting their own boots, and it's not a thing that any player gets. So, to be in this position where a brand is giving me my own and allowing me to design my own, that's a huge deal. And again, another blessing I have to be thankful for."

Could you explain to fans what the design process was like?

"So, New Balance brought up an idea, and they showed me something they think that would be cool, and I added my own little touches in there and specific details I would like in the boot. It was very cool to have the opportunity to have input on the boot because that never happens. To be in that position, it was amazing. To actually be able to wear this boot in the Premier League for the first time, that's going to be an insane moment."

What are your goals for the remainder of the Premier League season?

"So, as a team, we want to finish as high as possible. We are going to look to these remaining games and win as many as we can. On a personal note, I want to perform to the best of my abilities, be available for every single game, and put in performances I know I can. God willing, that's the case."

What is your favorite lifestyle New Balance shoe to wear off the pitch?

"Oh, that's a good one... That's a tricky one. I do like the 550s. Maybe the 990s."
