Aaron Rodgers Wears "Super Dad Shoes" in Achilles Recovery
One of the most disappointing moments of the NFL season happened early in the first week of action. Just a few snaps into his tenure with the New York Jets, Aaron Rodgers went down with a ruptured Achilles tendon.
Once considered a career-ending injury, many athletes across different sports have come back without missing a beat. Rodgers has taken it a step further by accelerating his rehabilitation process and promising a comeback this season.
The hype surrounding Rodgers' comeback has led to many viral videos of the soon-to-be 40-year-old quarterback walking without crutches and throwing a football on the field before Jets games. It has also led people to ask what shoes Rodgers is wearing.
KEEN WK400
Rodgers signed with adidas in September 2015 and remains with the brand. However, he has ditched adidas kicks for a footwear brand called KEEN. The Portland-based brand is not sponsoring Rodgers, but they have benefited from his endorsement during an ESPN interview.
During an interview on the Pat McAfee Show, the host asked Rodgers about his mysterious all-black shoes. Rodgers referred to the KEEN WK400 as "Super Dad shoes" and complimented the shoe's design. "They have a half circle on the bottom that allows me to get from my heel to my midfoot to my toe pretty easily."
KEEN used the interview clip and quickly capitalized on the free marketing with a series of social media posts beginning on November 8. Clever tag lines such as "The unofficial supporter of injured superstar quarterbacks" are strong examples of marketing that will be taught in the future.
Athletes and fans can purchase the KEEN WK400 walking shoes for $120 on the brand's website. Online shoppers can choose between multiple colorways, including a green and black Jets-inspired colorway that will drop in December.
