Adidas Crazy 1 Drops in Lakers Colors Tomorrow

Los Angeles Lakers legend Kobe Bryant's adidas shoes are releasing Saturday.
In this story:

As more time passes, the appreciation for Kobe Bryant's earliest basketball shoes continues to grow. Long before the Los Angeles Lakers legend rebranded himself as the "Black Mamba," he sported a mini-fro and wore futuristic adidas shoes.

Of course, Bryant left the German company in 2002 and went on to enjoy an unprecedented run with Nike. Since then, adidas tweaked Bryant's old shoes and re-released them periodically over the years.

Now, Lakers fans get a chance to purchase a pair of the adidas Crazy 1 (previously known as The Kobe 1) for $150 in adult sizes on the adidas website. The shoes will officially release on Saturday, February 18, at 10:00 a.m. Eastern Standard Time.

The adidas Crazy 1 features a cloud white synthetic upper embossed with three barely-visible white stripes promoting the brand. Meanwhile, the mesh collar and outsole are dressed in bold gold. Lastly, hits of collegiate purple throughout the shoe complete the Lakers-inspired colorway.

Bryant wore a very similar version of this performance basketball shoe during his first two NBA championship runs with Shaquille O'Neal and the Lakers. Many attribute its' successive model, the Kobe 2, as the straw that broke the camel's back for Bryant and adidas.

But current NBA players and fans alike have loved the reprisal of the adidas Crazy 1. Despite being over two decades old, the shoe is still playable on the court. It's a testament to adidas' technology and vision for the Kobe line back at the turn of the century.
