Adidas Promotes Michael Penix Jr. for Heisman
It is safe to say this college football season has been unlike any other in history. The level of competition has been at an all-time high, but one team has put the rest of the NCAA on notice each week with its explosive offense. The Washington Huskies are one of four undefeated teams and are poised to make even more noise in December.
On Thursday morning, adidas dropped a video endorsing Washington Huskies quarterback Michael Penix Jr. for the Heisman Trophy. The prestigious honor recognizes the most outstanding college football player whose performance epitomizes great ability combined with diligence, perseverance, and hard work.
The video, narrated by the legendary sports commentator Kenny Mayne, takes viewers through Penix’s spectacular season, anchored not only in his strong statistics and Heisman-worthy plays but also in his leadership, perseverance, and hard work on and off the field. Of note, Penix finished first in the FBS in pass plays of 10-plus yards during the regular season.
Adidas began its #Penix4Heisman campaign in October, ahead of Washington’s win over arch-rival Oregon Ducks. On Friday night, the undefeated Huskies face Oregon once again in the Pac-12 Championship Game held in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Adidas' support of the Huskies this year has been steadfast, as it made history by signing Penix and wide receiver Rome Odunze to NIL deals, becoming the brand’s first football student-athletes. The signing came amid a series of investments by the brand in its university partners and fans this fall, including two lifestyle footwear collections - Rivalry and Forum.
Huskies fans can gear up for the Pac-12 Championship game (and the College Football Playoff) by shopping their team's entire collection on the adidas website. Adidas will continue to celebrate Odunze and Penix as they lead the Huskies in their historic season, so stay locked into FanNationKicks.com for all your footwear news from the sports world.
