Brian Dutcher Rocks Air Jordans During San Diego State Win
The 2023 NCAA Tournament has been nothing short of amazing in both the men's and women's brackets. Most fans understandably focused on the buzzer-beater at the end of San Diego State's thrilling victory over the Florida Atlanta Owls on Saturday night.
However, sneakerheads were focused on the impressive Air Jordan sneakers worn by Aztecs coach Brian Dutcher. San Diego State is one of just ten schools sponsored by Jordan Brand, which means way more to athletes than the average fan might realize.
Dutcher used the national stage to wear the Air Jordan 3 in the 'Fire Red' colorway. The old-school basketball shoe is credited for getting Michael Jordan's legendary sneaker line back on track after the second installment and has enjoyed unwavering popularity since its debut in 1988.
Over the past quarter century, Nike and Jordan Brand have reimagined the iconic silhouette in every colorway imaginable with retro releases. However, the original Chicago Bulls-inspired colorway is tough to beat. Luckily for San Diego State, the colorway matches their school colors to the tee.
Air Jordan 3 'Fire Red'
The Air Jordan 3 'Fire Red' was last released on Saturday, September 10, 2022. The shoes had a retail price of $210 but now have an average resale price of $232, according to StockX.
The shoes feature a crisp white leather upper complemented by the classic elephant print wrapped around the heel and toe. Additionally, the red Jumpman logo is embroidered on the tongues. Since it is an "OG" colorway, 'Nike AIR' branding is on the heels.
Jordan Brand has taken care of Dutcher and his team. The players compete in new (and unreleased) models, while their coach rocks classic sneakers that garner the respect of even the most cynical Twitter user. We at FanNation Kicks cannot wait to see what Jordan Brand and the Aztecs have planned for the championship game on Monday night.
