Deion Sanders Debuts His Retro Nike Shoes

Colorado Buffaloes football coach Deion Sanders is back in his old Nike shoes (with a twist).
In this story:

Ever since the College Football Championship Game ended in a rout, there has been a flood of exciting developments in the offseason. There has been player movement in the NCAA Transfer Portal and rumors of further conference realignment.

However, no storyline was bigger than Deion Sanders taking the head coaching position for the Colorado Buffaloes. "Coach Prime" immediately infused his star power into the football program at Boulder. Look no further than the 47,000 fans that showed up for Saturday's spring game.

One potential snag in Sanders' move to Colorado involved sneaker brands. Sanders was an Under Armour ambassador, but Colorado is a Nike school. We later learned that Sanders' contract allowed his relationship with Under Armour to continue as long as he wore Nike while with the Buffaloes.

Since the move, there has been heavy speculation that Sanders would return to Nike. We have seen the coach wearing custom Nike gear, and today he wore his retro Nike shoes - but with an important twist.

The official Pac-12 Twitter account shared an image of Sanders taking the field, and sneakerheads quickly pointed out that he was wearing his old shoes. The only difference is the shoes were reimagined with a Nike React midsole for an upgraded cushion.

Sanders has been very open about his serious foot issues over the past few years, and it appears Nike has cooked up custom sneakers just for the coach. Let's hope this is just the start of a beautiful reunion between Sanders and the Swoosh.

Throughout the 1990s, it was common to watch Sanders play football during the day and baseball at night while starring in Nike commercials in between the games. Sanders has proved many times before that he is capable of anything. That should mean another chapter in his relationship with Nike.
