There is always excitement surrounding the launch of a new signature sneaker line. That is especially true when the new signature athlete is Devin Booker. The Phoenix Suns guard has transcended the sport to become a fashion and pop culture icon.

Last year, athletes and fans were thrilled when they learned the news that Nike planned on launching Booker's first signature sneaker in late 2023. However, sneakerheads hoping to purchase the launch colorway of the Nike Book 1 should temper their expectations.

Booker recently appeared on an episode of Complex's Sneaker Shopping and broke the bad news to viewers. At 11:30 in the YouTube video, Booker said, "This is it, man. These are the first ones. They come in December. One of 500. So, there's only 500 pairs."

The Nike Book 1 'Clay Orange' is scheduled to be released in December 2023 for $150. According to Booker, only 500 pairs of the highly anticipated colorway will be produced. In the sneaker world, that is the equivalent of finding a needle in the ocean.

This is a major letdown for fans who want to support the 3x NBA All-Star. It is also another puzzling part of the rollout. Last month, Drake debuted the colorway during his concert in Glendale, Arizona. However, Booker opted to wear a pair of Converse Chuck Taylors during NBA Media Day and retro Kobe sneakers during the preseason.

The good news for consumers is that Nike will drop several colorways of the model and has plenty of other great options to choose from online. Best of all, there are more brands and signature sneakers than ever before. Stay locked into FanNationKicks.com for all your footwear news from the sports world.
