Fans Can't Troll Dillon Brooks' Sneaker Rotation
On Friday night, the 7-seed Los Angeles Lakers eliminated the 2-seed Memphis Grizzlies in six games. Thanks to Memphis' mix of arrogance, off-court shenanigans, and occasional dirty play, they managed to turn LeBron James and the Lakers into the lovable underdogs.
It was quite a feat for Memphis to turn neutral NBA fans against them in such a short amount of time. One of the team's main antagonists is forward Dillon Brooks. The outspoken role player trolled his way into the national spotlight but could not back up his rhetoric when the lights shined the brightest.
Fans are going to rightfully troll Brooks for all offseason and probably for a long time to come after that. They will pick apart everything from his pregame outfits to his social media posts. However, they cannot take away from his impressive rotation of Nike basketball shoes.
To understand Brooks more fully, you have to know his background. The underrated prospect from Canada moved to Las Vegas, Nevada, in high school to better position himself for the NBA.
In college, Brooks excelled for the Oregon Ducks. Despite three stellar seasons, the Pac-12 Player of the Year fell to the second round of the 2017 NBA Draft. Since landing with the Grizzlies, Brooks has carried that chip on his shoulder.
Additionally, Brooks has continued to represent Oregon and Nike throughout his professional career. Even after leaving Eugene, former Ducks players get the hookup with player-exclusive sneakers to wear on the hardwood. Although they sometimes get the wrong order (sorry, Payton Pritchard).
Over the past six seasons, Brooks has worn various new and retro sneakers. However, the Nike Air Zoom G.T. Cut 2 has become the hoop shoe of choice for the bruising forward.
Not only does the performance basketball shoe feature a sleek silhouette that is often missing in most models, but it also features impressive technology. The Nike Air Zoom G.T. Cut 2 contains Nike React technology cushioning with parabolic Air Zoom Strobel stacked with a Zoom Air unit in the heel.
The hollow herringbone outsole pattern helps with acceleration and deceleration. The smear traction allows players to briefly stick to the ground while the other directional traction helps the user dig their toe in and toe out of it.
The Nike Air Zoom G.T. Cut 2 launched earlier this season for $170. However, several colorways have been marked down significantly on the Nike website. Much like Brooks' sneaker rotation, the model is highly underrated.
Brooks is facing an uncertain offseason as an unrestricted free agent, but there is no denying he will be back with a vengeance next year. We at FanNation Kicks already cannot wait to see what player-exclusive sneakers Brooks trots out next time we see him.
