Ja Morant's Nike Shoes Scheduled to Release This Week

Memphis Grizzlies guard Ja Morant's signature Nike shoes are releasing this Thursday.
In this story:

Few NBA players have enjoyed a faster ascent into superstardom than Memphis Grizzlies point guard Ja Morant. However, a series of off-court controversies have jeopardized the career of the 23-year-old.

On May 14, the Grizzlies suspended Morant for flashing a gun during an Instagram Live session. It was just two months after Morant served an eight-game suspension for a nightclub incident involving a firearm.

Many fans and some news outlets speculated that Morant's recently launched signature sneaker line with Nike had been terminated after his shoes temporarily disappeared from the company's website.

However, Nike never confirmed the reports, and now Morant's shoes are scheduled to drop in a new colorway soon. Below is what fans need to know about the upcoming release of the Nike Ja 1.

The Nike Ja 1 is scheduled to release in the 'Hunger' colorway on Thursday, May 25, at 10:00 a.m. Eastern Standard Time. Online shoppers can purchase the shoes for $110 in adult sizes on the Nike website.

Nike leans into Morant's upbringing in the product description by saying, "Ja Morant made it out [sic] the mud by tirelessly shooting on crooked rims, jumping on tractor tires, and dribbling through traffic cones in the steamy South Carolina heat."

The 'Hunger' colorway features a red and blue shoe contrasted by black Swoosh logos on the lateral sides. Additionally, Morant's signature and jersey number (12) appear on the back heels of the performance basketball shoes.

Despite Morant's ongoing suspension, it appears to be business as usual for Nike. Stay locked into FanNation Kicks for more updates on this story and all your sneaker coverage.
