Jordan Clarkson Joins Kyrie Irving by Signing With ANTA
Earlier this summer, Kyrie Irving made a splash by signing a major new sneaker deal with ANTA. Irving's five-year contract included a signature sneaker line and made the Dallas Mavericks point guard the Chief Creative Officer of ANTA Basketball.
Irving made it known that he wanted to attract other top NBA players to join him in representing ANTA on the hardwood. Yesterday, Irving and ANTA picked up a major win by adding Utah Jazz shooting guard Jordan Clarkson to the brand's quickly growing roster.
Not only is Clarkson a former NBA Sixth Man of the Year award winner, but he is currently representing the Philippines in the FIBA World Cup. According to Naveen Ganglani of Rappler, Clarkson will exclusively wear Anta in the World Cup and is engaged in talks that would have him wearing ANTA in the upcoming NBA season.
This is far from the multi-year sneaker deal we are accustomed to with splashy signings. Instead, this agreement feels more like a stop-gap deal which could be a prelude to a larger contract in the future.
Clarkson began his career with Nike before eventually testing the waters of sneaker free agency. During the 2022-23 NBA season, Clarkson trotted out Nike, Converse, and adidas sneakers. Clarkson's next move could be his best move as he enters the prime of his career.
