Messi Wore Bad Bunny's Adidas Sneakers Before MLS Debut

Lionel Messi showed love to Bad Bunny with his pregame adidas sneakers.

Last night was a movie in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Lionel Messi made his highly-anticipated MLS debut and did not disappoint. Messi led Inter Miami to a 2-1 victory over Cruz Azul by scoring off of a free kick in second-half stoppage time.

Of course, all eyes were on the feet of arguably the greatest soccer player ever. Since Messi arrived in South Florida, adidas has made the most out of every opportunity. The German brand has embarked on a massive marketing campaign ranging from commercials to cargo ships.

However, it was Messi who decided to show love to Puerto Rican rapper Bad Bunny. Messi was already a long-time adidas athlete before signing a lifetime contract in 2017. Conversely, Bad Bunny recently started a long-term collaborative partnership with adidas in 2022.

The combination of one of the biggest brands, best athletes, and most popular musical acts resulted in sneaker history on Friday night. Messi arrived at DRV PNK Stadium in the Bad Bunny x Adidas Response CL 'Triple Black' sneakers. Below is what fans must know about the affordable kicks.

Before making his MLS debut, Messi wore the Bad Bunny x adidas Response CL 'Triple Black' sneakers. The lifestyle shoes were released in June 2023 for $160 in adult sizes. Fans can purchase the shoes at or below the retail price on the resale platform StockX.

Bad Bunny’s reimagination of the classic adidas sneaker used black to show us how the "melted" leather overlays represent the fluidity and freedom that characterizes our artist.

The 'Triple Black' colorway was the third version of the adidas Response CL reimagined by Bad Bunny. Other colorways included "Yellow" and "Cream White" which are also available on most sneaker resale websites.

Messi's story with Miami is just starting, but the soccer legend has already made sneaker history with his choice of footwear. Stay locked into FanNation Kicks to learn more about what your favorite athletes wear on and off the field.
