Nike Kobe 6 'Black History Month' Details Remain Scarce

Kobe Bryant's sixth Nike basketball shoe release might release in a new colorway.

In addition to being one of the greatest basketball players of all time, Kobe Bryant had a claim to the best signature sneaker line ever created. Over three years after the Los Angeles Lakers legend's tragic passing, Bryant's Nike basketball shoes are more popular than ever.

Anytime Nike releases retro models from Bryant's signature line, the shoes sell out immediately, only adding insult to injury for many fans of the "Black Mamba."

That is why when Bryant's widow, Vanessa, teased an unreleased colorway of the Nike Kobe 6 Protro, many fans grew cautiously optimistic about an upcoming release.

Since Vanessa shared the pictures of a new 'Black History Month' colorway, several NBA players have worn the shoes during games. Just last night, Portland Trail Blazers guard Anfernee Simons and Los Angeles Clippers forward Robert Covington wore the unreleased kicks on the hardwood.

Unfortunately, February is almost halfway over, and there is still no concrete information for the Nike Kobe 6 'Black History Month.' Will fans get their first chance at buying new Nike Kobe shoes since last May? Or will they once again be tormented by rare shoes going directly to professional athletes?

There is still no official information, pricing, or images for the Nike Kobe 6 Protro 'Black History Month.' Luckily, photographers at NBA games have provided detailed looks at the unreleased shoes.

The shoe featured its iconic faux-snakeskin upper with a gradient design that fades from tan to chocolate brown. In addition, the Pink Nike swoosh logo is outlined in a bright blue that also appears on the heel, shoe laces, and tongues.

Bryant's logo appears in pink on the left shoe's tongue, while the pink and blue Nike basketball logo sits on the right tongue. The new colorway is a perfect match for the legendary performance model.

Even if the Nike Kobe 6 'Black History Month' never releases, fans still have reason to be excited about the future of the Nike Kobe line. There are at least three confirmed drops scheduled for this year.

Bryant's fourth signature is releasing in a new colorway, the Nike Kobe 6 Protro 'Reverse Grinch' is scheduled to release next holiday season, and the Nike Kobe 8 Protro is launching next fall. Stick with FanNation Kicks for all your footwear news.
