Shedeur Sanders' Color-Changing Cleats Inspired by Gatorade
Colorado Buffaloes quarterback Shedeur Sanders is arguably the biggest name in college football and is one of the most marketable athletes in the NCAA. Sanders has been on the Gatorade Athlete Roster since January 2022, making history as the brand’s first HBCU athlete following his incredible freshman season at Jackson State University.
During Saturday's action, Gatorade is officially unveiling its limited-edition Mystery Flavor in a unique way via custom, color-changing cleats designed by sneaker designer Mache. The cleats will be worn by Sanders during tonight's pregame ahead of Colorado’s homecoming game against the Oregon State Beavers.
Mache designed the one-of-one Nike cleats to unveil Gatorade’s Mystery Flavor Blackberry Raspberry by utilizing thermal pigment materials that change colors when exposed to cold temperatures (under 72 degrees).
Inspired by the legacy and evolution of the Gatorade brand, Mache designed the cleats in a way that would showcase the colors, transforming from white and retro Gatorade green accents to Gatorade's modern-day signature bright orange.
"Gatorade is an iconic brand I’ve loved since I was a kid, so teaming up with them to unveil their new Mystery Flavor on custom cleats was a no-brainer," said sneaker designer Mache. "This color-changing design is one-of-one, made specifically for Shedeur Sanders. I can’t wait to see them on the field."
Available in-store and online now, consumers have had the chance to taste the Gatorade Mystery Flavor and submit their flavor guesses online for a chance to win daily prizes or an exclusive grand prize experience at Super Bowl LVIII or the 2024 College Football National Championship.
