Shedeur Sanders Plays in Deion's Retro Nike Cleats
College football has always been very provincial, but opposing fanbases feel more divided than ever. Many fans are turned off by the Colorado Buffaloes and head coach Deion Sanders because of their trash talk and unapologetic demeanor.
While "Coach Prime" may have turned the NCAA upside down with his star power, no one can question his character or devotion to family. One of the coolest parts of this season has been watching Deion, Shedeur, and Shilo take on the establishment as a family.
Deion's two sons have both used everything from their cleats to the touchdown dances to pay tribute to their father. Nike has been right by the family's side to suit up the Buffaloes with the freshest gear - including bringing back Deion's signature footwear.
Nike DT 96
During Saturday afternoon's game against the USC Trojans, Shedeur wore a black and white player-exclusive colorway of the Nike DT 96. Once worn by his father when he dominated the gridiron and diamond in the 1990s, the old-school shoe has been remixed with modern technology.
We have seen Shedeur rock different colorways of the cleats throughout the season, while Deion wears custom sneakers that Nike designed to help support his battle against lower body health issues.
Not only are Deion's retro Nike cleats not available yet, but his signature "Coach Prime" apparel continues to sell out online. The silver lining is fans can still choose between Colorado Buffaloes sneakers and apparel on the Nike website.
Despite a spirited comeback, USC narrowly defeated Colorado 48-41. As always, Deion's detractors will revel in his defeat. But that should not take away from the amazing program transformation and the Sanders family story playing out in Boulder, Colorado.
