Ever since Dallas Mavericks guard Luka Doncic debuted his second signature sneaker during a late regular season game, the entire basketball world has been on the edge of their seats to learn more.

Doncic's first signature sneaker with Jordan Brand enjoyed a highly successful run that took over much of college and the NBA. After months of waiting, Jumpman officially unveiled the Jordan Luka 2 in five bold colorways in June.

For a brand synonymous with taking flight, it is only fitting that Doncic's second signature shoe debut in a futuristic-themed colorway built for outer space. Below is what fans need to know about today's launch of the Jordan Luka 2.

The Jordan Luka 2 launched globally on July 5, 2023. The performance basketball shoes cost $130 in adult sizes and $100 in big kids' sizes on the Nike website. Officially dubbed "Luk.AI," the colorway brings to life Doncic's alter-ego that he launched last year in collaboration with Epic Games.

Like other forms of artificial intelligence, "Luka.AI" learns and develops based on interactions with Doncic's fans. This tech-driven colorway sports a black and purple upper with aurora-green accents. However, the real innovation takes place inside the hoop shoe.

Doncic's second signature shoe builds on the success of its first by improving in a few key areas. Throughout the design process, Doncic reiterated the need for “balance” in his next shoe.

The Jordan Brand design team focused on nonlinear movements, highlighting the perennial NBA All-Star's crafty game and knack for creating separation. The midsole is comprised of four parts.

The Formula 23 foam rests directly underneath the foot, surrounded by a firm foam carrier. A soft foam wedge on the medial side helps the foot sink in slightly so it sits at a proper angle for pushing off the hardwood. Lastly, an updated IsoPlate raises the lateral sidewall against the carrier foam to secure the player's balance during lateral movements.
