Tiger Woods Wears FootJoy Golf Shoes at The 2023 Masters

For the second consecutive year, Tiger Woods wears FootJoy golf shoes at The Masters.

There is no golf tournament more important than The Masters. The tradition unlike any other is capable of drawing in the most casual fans. Combine the beauty of Augusta National with the star power of Tiger Woods, and it results in three days of must-see television.

With fans and athletes at every level glued to their screens, all of the major brands hope to capitalize on the big moment. Unfortunately for Nike, its most notable signature athlete is wearing another company's shoes.

For the second consecutive year, Woods is wearing FootJoy golf shoes. In 2022, Woods referenced his gruesome 2021 car wreck when explaining to the media, "I have very limited mobility now. Just with the rods and plates and screws that are in my leg, I needed something different, something that allowed me to be more stable. That's what I've gone to."

Nike followed up in a press release, "Like golf fans around the world, we are delighted to see Tiger back on the course. He is an incredible athlete, and it is phenomenal to see him returning to the game at this level. His story continues to transcend sport and inspire us all. As he continues his return, we will work with him to meet his new needs."

It has been a year, and Woods continues to avoid his own signature line. On Wednesday morning, Woods wore the FootJoy Premiere Packard. The shoes cost $200 on the FootJoy website and can be customized in countless colorways.

The shoes feature a waterproof, premium full-grain leather upper with Calfskin leather detailing. In addition, the OrthoLite EcoPlush Fit-Bed® ensures all-day comfort, while the VersaTrax+ outsole is engineered for maximum traction.

Woods initially signed with Nike for a five-year, $40 million deal in 1996. Once that deal expired, Woods inked a five-year, $100 million deal with Nike in 2001. Woods' third contract with Nike came in 2005 for eight years, somewhere between $20 and $40 million.

Woods' last contract with Nike came in 2013 for $200 million in 2013, according to Business Insider. While the details remain scarce, some fans speculate that Woods might be leveraging his footwear situation for another deal soon.

Woods continues to wear Nike apparel with his FootJoy golf shoes. However, that is not stopping his competitors from playing in his signature line with Nike. In the photo above, Scottie Scheffler can be seen wearing Woods' unmistakable shoes.

Fans can still shop the entire Tiger Woods collection on the Nike website. Currently, an ample selection of performance apparel, accessories, and shoes is available online.

There is no reason to believe the end is near for Woods and Nike. It is either an elite athlete being picky with his footwear or an astute businessman posturing for another massive deal. Stay locked into FanNation Kicks for all your shoe news.
