Trae Young Quietly Debuts His New Adidas Sneakers

Trae Young and adidas drop budget-friendly basketball shoes during the NBA Playoffs.

The NBA is full of exciting players with colorful personalities. However, few are more polarizing than Atlanta Hawks point guard Trae Young. The 2x NBA All-Star elicits hatred from opposing fanbases and unflinching loyalty from Hawks fans.

In addition to being a lightning rod in the association, Young is also one of just five adidas athletes with their own signature sneaker line. Young has worn the adidas Trae Young 2.0 throughout the season until the start of the postseason.

Young quietly switched sneakers with little fanfare and zero mention from adidas. During the playoff series against the Boston Celtics, Young has worn two colorways of the adidas Trae Unlimited.

The performance basketball shoe is not part of Young's signature line (currently at two models) but is part of his adidas collection. The shoe is a takedown or budget-friendly model designed to meet consumers at a more affordable price point.

While most brands are pulling out all the stops to capitalize on their signature athletes' appearance in the playoffs, adidas is asleep at the wheel. Fans can love or hate Young, but they cannot ignore the fiery floor general. Below is everything you need to know about Young's newest shoes.

Despite the lower price point, the adidas Trae Unlimited is capable of performing with any shoe on the market. The low-cut model features a serrated, textured upper made of textile, which is light and breathable.

The lightweight Bounce midsole is responsive for an adequate court feel. In addition, the rubber outsole has lateral grip zones, allowing athletes to change directions with ease.

The adidas Trae Unlimited launched in March and has quietly released three colorways. Currently, fans can purchase the shoes for $90 in adult sizes, $75 in youth sizes, and $65 in children's sizes on the adidas website.

Adidas should be commended for creating a solid performance basketball shoe at an affordable price. Unfortunately, they are letting a golden opportunity to market their products as Young just led Atlanta to victory with 32 points last night.
