UNC Basketball Receives Unreleased Air Jordans Early

Jordan Brand gifted the North Carolina Tar Heels Men's Basketball team unreleased sneakers.

There are many perks to playing for one of the most storied NCAA basketball programs in the country. Not only do athletes receive free sneakers ahead of the scheduled release date, but the colorway is designed to pay tribute to their school.

On Thursday afternoon, the North Carolina Tar Heels Men's Basketball team received highly anticipated Air Jordan sneakers before they even hit shelves. The UNC Hoops social media team shared the exciting moment in a tweet.

Of course, the University of North Carolina is a Jordan Brand school and the alma mater of Michael Jordan, which ensures they receive most of the best sneakers ever to release. The Tar Heels received the Air Jordan 1 in the "UNC Toe"  colorway.

Luckily for fans, these kicks are not a player-exclusive colorway and will release to the public soon. Below is everything online shoppers need to know about scoring the collegial kicks.

The Air Jordan 1 is releasing in the "UNC Toe" colorway on July 22. The old-school basketball shoes will cost $180 in adult sizes and be available on the Nike SNKRS website and app.

The "UNC Toe" colorway pays tribute to Jordan's alma mater by dressing his first signature sneaker in Tar Heels colors. The white leather upper is contrasted by Carolina blue and black overlays. True to its original roots, retro Nike Air and Air Jordan branding appear on the tongues and ankle collars.

At this time, we do not know how many pairs of these sneakers will be produced. However, it is safe to assume they will sell out quickly. Fans who can't wait to get some new Air Jordan sneakers can take advantage of the summer sale going on right now on the Nike website.

It is promising that the Air Jordan 1 "UNC Toe" is releasing to the public and not limited to players. However, we are going to remain cautiously optimistic until the production numbers leak online. Stay locked into FanNation Kicks for all your sneaker news.
