Coco Gauff Wins US Open in Her Signature Tennis Shoes

Coco Gauff wore her first signature New Balance tennis shoe during her 2023 US Open championship.

The future of tennis has finally arrived. After years of close calls, Coco Gauff won her first Grand Slam championship Saturday evening. Gauff defeated the No. 2 seed, Aryna Sabalenka, to win the 2023 US Open.

It is easy to forget that Gauff is still just 19 years old. The tennis prodigy becomes the 11th teenager to win a Grand Slam singles title. It was a signature victory, and Gauff did it in her first signature New Balance tennis shoe.

New Balance saw Gauff's potential and went all in on the teenager at a young age. In 2022, Gauff's first signature tennis shoe, the New Balance Coco CG1, officially hit shelves. Since its initial launch, the Coco CG1 has released several exciting colorways that highlight Gauff's lovable personality.

"We are honored to be a part of Coco’s incredible journey and are so proud to have her a part of the New Balance Family," said Chris Davis, New Balance CMO and SVP Merchandising. "Our relationship with Coco started with she was just 14 years old, but even then, we could see what a special talent she was on the court but also off. Her victory at the 2023 US Open is a testament to her hard work, and we look forward to supporting her throughout her long career."

Gauff won the US Open in the 'City Brights' colorway, which was released on August 25. Online shoppers can purchase the shoes for $170 in adult sizes and $80 in kid sizes on the New Balance website. Below is everything athletes and fans must know about the family-inspired colorway.

From the start of Gauff’s relationship with New Balance, her family has helped create colorways of the Coco CG1 that have special meaning for the biggest stages. Coco’s mom and aunt suggested the muted tones of red and brown, as both are colors that complement Coco’s skin tone.

After her breakthrough victory, Gauff immediately found her parents, and the family celebrated the joyous moment together. The 'City Brights' colorway immediately holds a place in sneaker history after today.

Naturally, Gauff's signature tennis shoes have begun selling out online. However, fans can expect plenty more installments of Gauff's signature tennis shoe line and even more victories in the future. Stay tuned to FanNationKicks.com for all your sneaker news in the sports world.
