Alexis Mac Allister will be available for Liverpool's next game after the club's appeal against his red card during Saturday's 3-1 win over Bournemouth was overturned.

Mac Allister was sent off in the 58th minute after catching the left ankle of Cherries midfielder Ryan Christie with the bottom of his left boot after both players had attempted to play the ball.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp was baffled by the decision to dismiss Mac Allister and said after the game: "We will talk to the people about it."

Mac Allister was initially handed a three-game suspension by the FA - which would have seen him miss matches against Newcastle, Aston Villa and Wolves - but that ban has since been completely wiped out following a successful appeal.

The FA tweeted on Tuesday: "An independent regulatory commission has removed Alexis Mac Allister's three-match suspension following a claim of wrongful dismissal."

Mac Allister joined Liverpool earlier this summer for an initial transfer fee of £35 million but the Reds could eventually pay Brighton as much as £55m due to various performance-related add-ons.
