Christopher Nkunku Targets Trophies At Chelsea In First Interview Since Signing From RB Leipzig
Christopher Nkunku has vowed to give his all in an effort to win trophies with Chelsea.
The 25-year-old French forward moved to Stamford Bridge earlier this week after the Blues agreed to pay RB Leipzig a transfer fee in the region of £52 million.
Nkunku won the DFB-Pokal twice during four seasons in Germany.
That took his tally of career titles to 11, after he had lifted nine trophies with Paris Saint-Germain between 2016 and 2019.
Chelsea have won 23 trophies this century but failed to claim any silverware last season.
Nkunku plans to get his new team back on the title train and is ready to work hard to reach his goal.
Speaking in his first interview since swapping Leipzig for London, Nkunku told ChelseaFC.com: "We can say that I am a hard worker. I will give everything for the club, for the fans and to help the team bring some trophies. To give the best of my football. I hope I will make them as happy as I am to be here at this club.
"On the pitch I'm a bit quiet, but I can speak, I can shout also. But I'm very focused on the football and about winning, to do everything right, so I can say I speak with my feet. But it's important obviously to speak to the boys on the pitch."
Explaining why he decided to join Chelsea, Nkunku added: "I think the project was good for me. It is a good project for me to develop myself as a player and a man also.
"And this is a good city, after all, and for sure I want to improve in football and I want to win trophies and improve myself also. So I think this is a good project for me at this moment. This is a good project, for sure."
Nkunku scored 70 goals in four seasons at Leipzig.
He netted 23 times in the Bundesliga last season, which was enough to share the Golden Boot award with Werder Bremen's Niclas Fullkrug.
