Kylian Mbappe No Longer In PSG Exile After "Very Constructive And Positive" Talks
Paris Saint-Germain have confirmed that Kylian Mbappe is set to return to first-team training.
He had been exiled to PSG's reserve group after being put up for sale by the club last month.
PSG's decision to place Mbappe on the transfer list came after the 24-year-old forward informed club bosses that he would not be signing a new contract this summer.
That made PSG desperate to sell their prized asset to avoid the possibility of him leaving on a free transfer at the end of the season.
But a statement published by PSG on Sunday revealed that "following very constructive and positive discussions" Mbappe had been "reinstated into the first-team training squad".
Those discussions are said to have taken place on Saturday before PSG began the new Ligue 1 season by drawing 0-0 with Lorient in Paris.
Mbappe watched that game from the stands at the Parc des Princes.
He was pictured sitting next to France teammate Ousmane Dembele, who had completed a €50.4 million transfer from Barcelona to PSG earlier on Saturday.
Mbappe and Dembele may now both feature in PSG's next game - an away match at Toulouse on August 19.
Al-Hilal had a €300 million offer accepted by PSG for Mbappe three weeks ago, but he refused to talk to the Saudi Pro League side.
Mbappe had signed a new contract in May 2022 when it was initially claimed by PSG that he had put pen to paper on a three-year deal until June 2025.
However, it later emerged that he had actually signed a two-year contract that included an option for the player to extend it by a further 12 months.
Mbappe decided not to exercise that extension option earlier this summer, but PSG are said to be increasingly confident that he could sign a new contract before the end of the season.
It is widely understood that Mbappe wishes to join Real Madrid ahead of the 2024/25 campaign.
PSG are determined to receive a transfer fee if and when he does eventually depart.
