Mason Greenwood has not attended an official Manchester United training session for almost 18 months but he recently shared a pitch with one of his teammates.

Greenwood was suspended by United in January 2022 after being arrested by police.

He was later charged with attempted rape, engaging in controlling behavior, and assault, but all charges against him were dropped in February 2023.

Despite no longer facing any criminal charges, Greenwood is still the subject of a club investigation into his conduct.

While that investigation continues he will not be selected for matches or be permitted to join team training sessions.

However, Greenwood was this week pictured posing for a photograph with fellow United forward Anthony Elanga following an unofficial training session.

Nineteen-year-old Udinese defender James Abankwah, who is an Irish youth international, also featured in the photo.

The image was first published by The Sun and later went viral on Twitter, where many users claimed it had been taken in Dubai, although this appears to be untrue.

Greenwood had been pictured last month training one-on-one with a private coach after hiring a pitch at a public sports center.

United will play their first pre-season friendly on Wednesday afternoon when they take on Leeds in Oslo, Norway.

Neither Greenwood nor Elanga will be involved in that match.
