Manchester City are set to enter the race to sign West Ham United captain Declan Rice.

The 24-year-old midfielder is under contract with West Ham for another 12 months but the Europa Conference League winners are expected to sell him this summer.

But he will not be sold cheaply.

According to BBC Sport, West Ham have already rejected two offers from Arsenal, including a second bid worth around £90 million.

The Gunners are likely to lodge another bid as Rice is manager Mikel Arteta's top transfer target.

But journalist David Ornstein of The Athletic reported on Thursday that City are expected to make an official offer to West Ham this week.

City are set to lose club captain Ilkay Gundogan on a free transfer to Barcelona in the coming days.

But the Premier League champions have already arranged one move to bolster their midfield by agreeing a deal worth £30m with Chelsea for Mateo Kovacic.

Rice has made 204 EPL appearances for West Ham, scoring 10 goals and assisting another 10.

He has been capped 43 times by England, having previously represented the Republic of Ireland in three friendly matches.
