Ilkay Gundogan is a big game player.

He proved that multiple times during his seven years at Manchester City, including in last season's FA Cup final when he scored two goals against Manchester United.

Gundogan made his Clasico debut for Barcelona on Saturday and it took the big game player just five minutes and 57 seconds to make a big impact.

The Barcelona midfielder fired his side 1-0 up against Real Madrid thanks to a combination of determined pressing and cool finishing.

Gundogan attempted to play a one-two with Ferran Torres, but the return pass from the Spanish forward deflected off Aurelien Tchouameni.

That deflection resulted in the ball rolling towards David Alaba inside the Madrid penalty area.

Alaba got to the ball just before Gundogan, but the former City star was still able to steal possession before volleying past Kepa Arrizabalaga from seven yards.

Barcelona went on to lose Saturday's Clasico.

England midfielder Jude Bellingham scored twice in the second half - including a 30-yard stunner - as Madrid won 2-1.
