Arlington Renegades Shuffle Offensive Line, Starter Placed on Injured Reserve
The Arlington Renegades had to make some adjustments to the offensive line after the first week of UFL training camp. It started with the signing of center Naasir Watkins on Friday. On Saturday, the team became the first UFL team to place a player on injured reserve with last season’s starting offensive lineman Garrett McGhin joining the list.
McGhin started every game at right tackle last season, helping the Renegades win the XFL Championship. He rejoined Arlington this year after spending a short time with the Buffalo Bills in the NFL last year.
The XFL wasn’t his only stop in spring football, as he also played in the USFL in 2022 with the New Jersey Generals. His NFL stints also included the New York Giants, Jacksonville Jaguars and Carolina Panthers. He was a two-year starter with the East Carolina Pirates.
Watkins started his college career with Kentucky before transferring to the Liberty Flames. He played in 25 games in five seasons.
Arlington should still have options to fill in in McGhin's absence with former NFL offensive tackle Bobby Evans joining the team this year. Taton Saltes is another option as he was a depth player on the line last year for Arlington.
The Renegades host the Birmingham Stallions for the first game of the UFL season on March 30.
