At the same time the UFL announced three players being waived, the league shared that four others had signed onto rosters, including:

  • QB Drew Plitt (Arlington Renegades)
  • DL Caleb Sampson (Birmingham Stallions)
  • LB Andre Mintze (D.C. Defenders)
  • QB Manny Wilkins (St. Louis Battlehawks)

Plitt returns after being the opening-day starter for the Renegades last year, where he threw for 668 yards and three touchdowns to five interceptions in five games. After the XFL season, he was signed onto the Cincinnati Bengals in November following the Joe Burrow injury. He previously spent time with the Bengals in the 2022 preseason.

Sampson joins the Stallions after playing three preseason games with the Indianapolis Colts in 2023. In college, he produced 77 tackles, 11.5 tackles for loss, 5.5 sacks and six pass deflections in 46 games for Kansas.

Mintze shined on the Defenders in eight games last year, making 18 tackles and 3.5 sacks. He played in the NFL in 2021 and 2022 with the Denver Broncos and Minnesota Vikings, racking up four tackles in six games.

Wilkins rejoins a Battlehawks quarterback room that needs depth after spending last year as a backup. He previously made the Green Bay Packers practice squad in 2019 before being released during the 2020 offseason.

The three players waived were St. Louis Battlehawks running back Max Borghi, St. Louis Battlehawks guard Kahlil McKenzie and Birmingham Stallions guard Tre’Vour Wallace-Sims.

The UFL has seen 205 players officially sign contracts. Training camp opens up for the league on Feb. 24, and the inaugural season begins March 30.
