Start ’Em, Sit ’Em Quarterbacks Fantasy Football Divisional Round: Sitting Pretty With Brock Purdy
Start ‘Em, Sit ‘Em is the ultimate look at the best and worst matchups based on a PPR scoring system in fantasy football. This column will not cover the elite players in the NFL like Patrick Mahomes, Christian McCaffrey or Justin Jefferson. Instead, I'll look at the players you have questions about who could exceed or fail to meet expectations at each position. For all of your final fantasy lineup decisions, be sure to check out my weekly player rankings which will be updated daily throughout the 2023 NFL season.

Divisional Round Start ’Em: Quarterbacks
Start of the Week
Brock Purdy vs. Green Bay Packers (Sat. 8:15 p.m. ET, Fox): Purdy finished sixth in fantasy points among quarterbacks in the regular season, and his success should continue against the Packers. Their defense allowed 17-plus points to three quarterbacks in three of their final four road games, including 17.5 points to Tommy DeVito and a career-best 22.2 points to Bryce Young in a Week 16 matchup.

Start ’Em
Jared Goff vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (3 p.m. ET, NBC): Goff didn’t put up a huge stat line in last week’s win over the Los Angeles Rams, but he’s usually a reliable option at Ford Field. He should bounce back against the Buccaneers, who have allowed 25-plus fantasy points to four quarterbacks on the road this season. That includes a Week 14 game where Desmond Ridder beat them for 25.4 points.

Divisional Round Sit ’Em: Quarterbacks
Sit of the Week
C.J. Stroud at Baltimore Ravens (Sat. 4:30 p.m. ET, ESPN): Stroud is red hot, scoring 20-plus points in two of his last three games, including last week’s big win over the Cleveland Browns. But if we’re trusting the process, he has the worst matchup of the week among quarterbacks. Baltimore allowed just one opposing field general to score more than 16.2 points against them at home this season.
Sit ’Em
Patrick Mahomes at Buffalo Bills (6:30 p.m. ET, CBS): Mahomes scored 18.6 points last week, which was his highest point total since Week 12 from a fantasy standpoint. While it’s hard to doubt him in the postseason, keep in mind that the Bills have allowed fewer than 19 points to all but one quarterback at home. That list includes the solid trio of Tua Tagovailoa, Dak Prescott and Trevor Lawrence.
