The End of an Era, 'Model Local Rule' and Scottie Scheffler's Trip to Augusta

When the final match ends at Austin Country Club, the World Golf Championships will end after a 24-year run.

Time to qualify for the Masters is running out, but Taylor Moore has his spot in the field, having won a Valspar Championship that will also be remembered for Jordan Spieth's roller-coaster ride.

Meanwhile, LIV Golf had its second event of the season in Tucson, Ariz., with Danny Lee celebrating after a four-man playoff. The tournament appeared to belong to Louis Oosthuizen for much of Sunday; he came up short in the playoff but is doing well to play through a tendon injury.

It was a busy weekend to end a busy week in golf, and Bob Harig covers all of it in his Weekly Read.

While we don't know whether this week's World Golf Championships-Dell Match Play will be the last PGA Tour event for a while in that format, we do know it's the last WGC. It's the end of an era for the limited-field events, some played around the world and many of which were playgrounds for Tiger Woods, who won 18 of them.

If the 'Model Local Rule' Arrives, Will Every Tour and Top Event Use It?

The talk of the game all week has been the rolled-back ball proposal from golf's governing bodies. At the Valspar Championship, Justin Thomas asked about whether some majors could use the ball while others don't. There are many questions yet to be answered, and it should be an interesting couple years until the "Model Local Rule" may become real.

When the Masters begins in under three weeks, Scottie Scheffler will have his game face on thanks to a recent visit where he soaked up the life of the defending champion. You know, playing with his dad and his swing coach, wearing the jacket on the grounds ... the good stuff.

Rickie Fowler's resurgence takes him to the WGC-Match Play this week, where he could qualify for the Masters if he advances out of pool play (and also maybe if he doesn't). The field stands at 85 players after Taylor Moore's win, in which Bob Harig explains what made the difference on Sunday.
