The PGA Tour announced on Wednesday that Viktor Hovland, Hideki Matsuyama, Rickie Fowler and Scottie Scheffler have committed to play in The Sentry, the first Signature event of the PGA Tour season.

Formerly the Sentry Tournament of Champions, the event will take place from Jan. 4–7 at the Plantation Course at Kapalua in Maui, Hawai’i. For the first time in 2024, the field includes more than just the year’s PGA Tour winners. The top 50 players from the 2022–23 FedEx Cup points list are also invited to tee it up.

Currently ranked fourth in the world, Hovland captured three PGA Tour titles in the calendar year, including the Tour Championship. Scheffler successfully defended his win at the WM Phoenix Open in February and followed it up with a victory at the Players Championship. Fowler won for the first time since 2019 at this summer’s Rocket Mortgage Classic. Matsuyama did not add a PGA Tour title to his resume in 2023, but remained in the FedEx Cup top 50.

Tony Finau also recently announced his commitment to The Sentry. The six-time PGA Tour winner put LIV rumors to rest with an Instagram post, ending the message with the hashtag “#imnotleaving.”

Just last week, Jon Rahm sent shock waves through the golf world when he announced his decision to leave the PGA Tour for LIV Golf. Rahm won four times in 2023, including at the Masters where he clinched his second major championship.

Ludvig Aberg, Tom Kim, Vincent Norrman and Sahith Theegala have also committed to playing in Maui to kick off the 2024 PGA Tour season.
