Holmes County Central Jaguars edge Florence Eagles 42-40 in Mississippi high school football game

Florence High School - Holmes County Central High School quarterback Davarious Johnson racked up 108 passing yards and threw for 2 touchdowns to guide the Holmes County Central Jaguars to a 42-40 win over the Florence Eagles on Friday night at Florence High School in a high school football game.

The Jaguars also received impressive efforts from running back Jartavious Smart who rushed 13 times for 63 yards and 1 touchdown and quarterback Garrison Davis who rushed 6 times for 52 yards and 1 touchdown.

Florence's quarterback Robert Reed threw for 100 yards and 1 touchdown, running back Xzavion Quick picked up 246 rushing yards and 4 touchdowns and wide receiver Tytan Edmonson had 82 receiving yards and 1 touchdown.

The win helps Holmes County Central improve to 4-0 on the season while Florence falls to 3-2. Tonight’s game was the first matchup between the two teams.

Holmes County Central will challenge the Murrah Mustangs at home on Friday September 29. This is the first matchup between the two teams this season.
