Northwest Rankin Cougars edge Brookhaven Panthers 35-30 in MS high school football game
Cougar Field - Northwest Rankin High School quarterback joseph phillipson accumulated 302 passing yards and threw for 2 touchdowns to guide the Northwest Rankin Cougars to a 35-30 win over the Brookhaven Panthers on Friday night in a high school football game.
The Cougars also received major efforts from running back Tripp Weakley who rushed 16 times for 177 yards and 2 touchdowns and running back Jermany Hayden who rushed 8 times for 8 yards and 1 touchdown.
Brookhaven's quarterback Jaden Allen threw for 261 yards and 4 touchdowns, running back Caiden Quarles picked up 73 rushing yards and 1 touchdown and defensive back Semaj Ross had 72 receiving yards and 1 touchdown.
The win helps Northwest Rankin improve to 3-2 on the season while Brookhaven falls to 4-1. Tonight’s game was the first matchup between the two teams.
Northwest Rankin will challenge the Pearl Pirates at home on Thursday October 10. This is the first matchup between the two teams this season.
