Northwest Rankin Cougars defeat Pearl Pirates 13-7 in MS high school football game

Cougar Field - Northwest Rankin High School quarterback joseph phillipson accumulated 153 passing yards to help the Northwest Rankin Cougars to a 13-7 win over the Pearl Pirates on Thursday night in a high school football game.

The Cougars also received vital efforts from wide receiver Noah Williams who completed 1 pass for 63 yards and 1 touchdown and running back Tripp Weakley who caught 2 passes for 63 yards and 1 touchdown.

Pearl's quarterback Dylan Story threw for 76 yards, linebacker Derrick Alexander picked up 68 rushing yards and wide receiver Kingi McNair II had 64 receiving yards.

The win helps Northwest Rankin improve to 4-2 on the season while Pearl falls to 2-4. Tonight’s game was the first matchup between the two teams.

Northwest Rankin travels to Meridian, MS to face off against the Meridian Wildcats on Friday October 18. This is the first matchup between the two teams this season.
