Athletics deal Tommy Milone to Twins for Sam Fuld
On the heels of dealing Yoenis Cespedes to Boston for Jon Lester and Jonny Gomes, the Oakland Athletics have traded starting pitcher Tommy Milone to the Minnesota Twins, the team announced Thursday.
The A's received outfielder Sam Fuld from the Twins in exchange for Milone, who reportedly asked for a trade last week.
Milone is 6-3 with a 3.55 ERA in 96.1 innings for Oakland this season.
Fuld started the season in Oakland but was designated for assignment in April and claimed by Minnesota. With the Twins, he hit .274 with one home run, 17 RBI and a .370 OBP in 53 games.
Fox Sports' Ken Rosenthal also reports that the Twins are calling up 1B/DH Kenny Vargas. Vargas was hitting .281 with 17 home runs and 63 RBI at Double A New Britain.
