Pirates' Pedro Alvarez likely done for season with stress reaction in foot
Pirates corner infielder Pedro Alvarez is likely done for the season after the team announced Wednesday night that he's been diagnosed with a stress reaction in the fourth metatarsal of his left foot.
The team stopped short of saying he's out for the season, but did add that the typical recovery time for this injury is four to six weeks. With the season ending in less than three weeks, the news effectively ends his season.

The 27-year-old, just one year removed from his only All-Star appearance, will likely finish the year batting .231 in 122 games.
The Pirates were second in the NL Central heading into their game Wednesday night on the road against the Phillies.
